SUMMARY:Synchrotron Environmental Science (SES-2025) Symposium
DESCRIPTION:The Synchrotron Environmental Science (SES) Symposium will be held at Stony Brook University from September 29 – October 1\, 2025.\n \nThis symposium will unite leading experts in synchrotron research and environmental science to foster dialogue\, collaboration\, and innovation. The 8th SES Symposium focuses on the complex interplay amongst and between hydrologic\, geomorphic\, geochemical\, and biological processes and how this dynamic near-surface environment responds to change.\n \n\nTopics will include problems of high societal impact within research focused on the “Critical Zone”\, hydrologic cycle\, soil science and ecology\, geochemistry\, geomicrobiology\, and critical elements.\n\n \nThis year’s program features a diverse array of invited and contributed talks\, updates on cutting-edge facilities\, a sponsor banquet\, an exclusive tour of NSLS-II beamlines\, a vibrant poster session\, and exhibits highlighting new technologies and instrumentation.\n \nLearn more at https://www.bnl.gov/ses-symposium/index.php.

SUMMARY:2025 Pittsburgh Diffraction Conference (PDC)
DESCRIPTION:The Pittsburgh Diffraction Conference is one of the longest-running scientific meetings in North America focused on the advancement of structural science through diffraction-based methods. Bridging both life sciences and materials sciences\, the conference brings together researchers who utilize laboratory-based instruments\, X-ray light sources\, electron diffraction\, and neutron scattering to explore the structure and dynamics of matter. It serves as a vibrant forum for sharing recent scientific breakthroughs\, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations\, and highlighting innovations across experimental and computational frontiers \nThis year’s program features a diverse and timely selection of breakout sessions\, reflecting key areas of growth in the field. Topics include energy storage\, emphasizing structural insights that enable next-generation energy technologies; AI and its applications in the development of emergent materials; novel materials with transformative properties; and the effects of extreme environments on structures\, reveling details on dynamic processes and molecular motion that lead to bimolecular functions and a better understanding of complex soft materials. \nLearn more at https://www.bnl.gov/pittsburgh-diffraction-conference/
